Landscape Visibility Analysis and Their Visualisation

چکیده
Visibility analysis or Viewshed is a common function of almost all GIS systems. The aim of this project is to find out the best solution, to compute viewshed for the Olomouc region and ensure the best way of visualisation of the results. The first step to analyze the visibility is making a high quality Digital Terrain Model, choice of the best interpolation method and subsequent addition of vegetation and man-made structures layer. Visibility calculation is contained in a large number of software applications, but not all are able to compute visibility for a large area, so the choice of software was also very important. Currently there are many ways to transmit the analysis results to the target user. One of them is the use of Google Earth. The project deals with the possibilities of exporting the output from the visibility analysis from ArcGIS system to Google Earth. An important part is to optimize the size of the resulting layer using various methods of generalization so that the resulting layer is sufficiently precise and not too voluminous at the same time. The project also explores the possibilities of enrichment of visualization with multimedia content, which can be for example 3D models of buildings, photos, videos or spherical panoramas as we know from Google Street View, etc. The output of the project is an interactive application that will ensure a simple and visually attractive approach to data that represent the visibility of the most important observation points in the area of interest.

Context Matters: GIS-Based Spatial Analysis of the Nasca Geoglyphs of Palpa
In this chapter we report on the GIS-based analysis of the Nasca geoglyphs of Palpa, Peru, undertaken in the course of the Nasca–Palpa Archaeological Project. We focus here on the analysis of spatial relationships between the geoglyphs and the surrounding landscape in terms of visibility and orientation. Our motivation for this contextual analysis was to gain a better understanding of the funct...
متن کاملAnalysis of Feature Intervisibility and Cumulative Visibility Using GIS, Bayesian and Spatial Statistics: A Study from the Mandara Mountains, Northern Cameroon
The locations of diy-geδ-bay (DGB) sites in the Mandara Mountains, northern Cameroon are hypothesized to occur as a function of their ability to see and be seen from points on the surrounding landscape. A series of geostatistical, two-way and Bayesian logistic regression analyses were performed to test two hypotheses related to the intervisibility of the sites to one another and their visual pr...

متن کاملAn Online Landscape Object Library to Support Interactive Landscape Planning
Using landscape objects with geo-visualisation tools to create 3D virtual environments is becoming one of the most prominent communication techniques to understand landscape form, function and processes. Geo-visualisation tools can also provide useful participatory planning support systems to explore current and future environmental issues such as biodiversity loss, crop failure, competing pres...
متن کاملThree Sampling Methods for Visibility Measures of Landscape Perception
The character of a landscape can be seen as the outcome of people’s perception of their physical environment, which is important for spatial planning and decision making. Three modes of landscape perception are proposed: view from a viewpoint, view from a road, and view of an area. Three sampling methods to calculate visibility measures simulate these modes of perception. We compared the result...
